My dear Chander,

At the outset compliments and kudos to you for pioneering efforts in organising IESM and the Core Committee in bringing it to present reckonable state.

Although lots of acerbic comments have been attributed to Committee members, I feel that those expressing such views may consider their efforts from a different angle due following reasons:-

(a) They out of so many ESM had courage, gumption and conviction to initiate this activity rather than the normal activity of NO original thinking and only correcting dots and dashes.

(b) Merits of most decisions are known only in posterity but isn`t it better to have taken some decision than NO decision particularly for PBOR and their families who may not have access to all varied and sophisticated inputs to decide on whom to vote. They may vote based only on undesirable traits of caste, religion or the advice of local agent of a politician.

(c) Army is secular but we all as individuals and organisation follow our religious formalities and not shed them off.

(d) We are all soldiers, airmen and sailors but it does not take away from us our fundamental right of being an Indian Citizen and it is thus incumbent on us to exercise our right to vote. Advisory does not mean we have become an organ of BJP.

These officers at this age, have willingly devoted time and energy, at the cost of their personal comfort and put in these efforts for betterment of ESMs`.
No amount of gratitude would be adequate. We need to join to reinforce their efforts in whatever manner we can.

With regards,
Ishwar Chandra.
